Reinvent your ponytail!
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 14:28
Letting your hair down is oh, so romantic and sexy but there comes time when it may be neither appropriate or comfortable. Or we just want to do something else with our hair for once. But instead going nuts with elaborate up dos, let's focus today on a good, old ponytail.
The higher the better.
The high ponytail is this seasons favorite. The secret is to make it look more Cannes Film Festival and less "Croydon facelift". How? Start by keeping your hair clean - ponytail should not be a remedy for "too late for a shower" day. The positioning is just as important: situating it at 45-degree angle from your chin will emphasize your cheekbones to their full potential. If geometry is not your strongest asset, simply feel the back of your head and locate the bone that sticks out slightly - that's the optimal point for your ponytail.
Styling.
There are a number of options that can be explored as regards the texture of your tail, back-combing, crimping, curling or waving, are all more on trend than simply straight. You can as well fake it a bit for a special occasion by adding extra volume or length with real or synthetic hair. For additional catwalk kudos take a section of hair from underneath the ponytail and use the strand to hide the elastic and create an haute couture touch.
